Portmarnock Swim Team is one of the longest-standing clubs based at Portmarnock Sports & Leisure Club. Originally known as Portmarnock Amateur Swimming Club / Portmarnock Penguins, it was one of the first clubs to set up within the centre shortly after it opened, around 1984.

The club has grown from a small local swim club into one of Ireland’s most successful swimming teams, regularly sending swimmers to inter-club, regional, national and international competitions. Its coaching philosophy is built around long-term athlete development, with the focus placed on helping each swimmer fulfil their potential rather than simply chasing medals.

Portmarnock Swim Team trains at PSLC and welcomes swimmers from Portmarnock and surrounding areas including Malahide, Baldoyle, Donaghmede, Raheny, Sutton, Swords and beyond. The club operates a squad structure from learning and improvement levels through to performance squads, with pathways designed to develop technique, stamina, competitive skills and long-term progression.

The team is affiliated with Swim Ireland and places strong emphasis on safeguarding, club standards, swimmer development and parental involvement. Membership is open to children aged seven and over who meet the entry criteria, subject to trials and squad availability.
