Community Spirit Runs Deep with the PSLC AquaFit Ladies

A huge thank you to our AquaFit Ladies for their contribution to the PSLC Fundraiser.

For years, every Monday and Friday morning at PSLC has belonged to the Aqua Ladies. Spanning a range of ages, this dedicated group isn’t just a fitness class -they are a community. For many, the sessions are a vital lifeline for their physical rehabilitation, joint mobility and cherished weekly social connection.

When the pool temporarily closed, PSLC management and trusted instructor Cathy McGivney stepped in immediately, keen to keep the group’s essential routine intact. Cathy transitioned them to Chair Aerobics at their usual morning time, ensuring everyone could continue exercising safely. The ladies turned up religiously whatever the weather, and the new class quickly went from strength to strength.

That deep sense of camaraderie came full circle thanks to Jean O’Leary. A familiar face at the PSLC, Jean took the initiative to support the Centre’s Pool Fundraiser. Armed with a simple envelope, she arrived a few minutes early to class over a fortnight, quietly inviting the ladies to contribute if they wished.

The response was immediate. The group rallied together and raised a fantastic €400 to hand over the PSLC GoFundeMe.

Nobody asked them to do it. It was simply a genuine act of gratitude from a group who deeply value their Pool. While the pool may be on pause for now, the warmth, resilience, and heart of the Aqua Ladies is as buoyant as ever.
