When our group set off from Lambay Island towards Low Rock in Malahide, we knew we were in for a serious test of physical and mental endurance.
9 km of open water is no small feat. The conditions threw everything at us, from choppy swells to bitingly cold pockets of water. It pushed our mental resolve and physical endurance to the absolute limit.
Every single stroke was driven by one goal: doing our absolute best for Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre and every single person who backed us.
When we set out, we never dreamed we would raise an incredible €28,000+ for the PSLC roof and pool renovations. The buzz, goodwill and community spirit have been nothing short of inspiring.
Now, we need the rest of our PSLC family to keep this momentum going. This swim showed what’s possible when a team rallies together, but the job isn’t finished yet. We still need to bridge the remaining funding gap to secure our pool and facility renovations for future generations.
What can your club do to get involved?
Whether it’s hosting a club fundraiser, organising a sponsored event or rallying your members, every effort counts.
Let’s get behind our centre together. Pop into reception or send a message to PSLC management to share what your club has planned to help bridge the gap.
Thank you,
Aoife
